Abstract :
The Opto Electronic Oscillator proves a lower phase noise with respect to the classic quartz based oscillators. In this paper we describe an experimental setup of a microwave optoelectronic oscillator operating in the radar band based on a novel optical component, the Frequency Shifter, and operating on a dual frequency (SSB) modulation scheme. We have theoretically modelled and experimentally measured our novel approach and compared it with the common Mach Zehnder based oscillator.
