Integration of R&D and Standardization in China: Causes, Challenges and Countermeasures

The competition of international trade has gradually evolved into the competition of technical standards, and standardization strategy plays a role for a country´s development. The causes of three classical standardization strategies are analyzed firstly in this paper, the results show that the advantage of integration of research and development (R&D) and technical standards can transform technical fruits into technical standards rapidly while the disadvantages would be the integration inefficient and the restriction on the innovation and free development of technology when the integration is implemented forcibly. Then based on the classifying the challenges of R&D integration to standardization in China, the paper puts forth the principle of standardization strategy. Furthermore, countermeasures are proposed according to the advantages and disadvantages of integration of R&D and standardization.
