Abstract
Summary form only given. We propose a new scheme for generating single-photon states by a non-resonant nonlinear interaction in a passive, weakly coupled system. We consider the problem of an input multimode light field interacting with a lossless cube-beamsplitter with a lower-index Kerr-nonlinear thin film in its midst (NLBS). It is shown that a weak Kerr nonlinear beamsplitter could serve to generate nonclassical light fields through conditional photon tunneling.
