Abstract :
EUTELSAT has procured on In-orbit Test facility (IOT) station payload testing of its second generation satellites-EUTELSAT II. Consequently, the Organization has investigated several test campaigns with the aim to assess the gain performance of the antenna throughout the spectrum of interest (10.95 to 14.5 GHz). Two methods retained and implemented are summarised: Gain transfer quasi near field outdoor test range technique and, gain transfer using a satellite as a remote tool. Both of the above methods make use of a standard gain horn (SGH), specially constructed for this exercise. The techniques employed for each of the two methods namely in the preparation of the test bench, measurement of the gain profiles and derivation of the final gain equations are outlined
