Abstract
A multiwatt Tm3+:Ho3+ co-doped silica fibre laser pumped at 0.79 mum is demonstrated with an extended tuning range from 1920-2120 nm, compared with 1880-2040 nm obtained using a Tm3+ only doped fibre.
