Abstract :
The launch of the European Space Agency´s experimental satellite Olympus in July 1989 offered the opportunity to collect propagation data at 12, 20 and 30 GHz and, therefore, a measurement programme was started at the British Telecom Research Laboratories (BTRL) at Martlesham Heath. The paper reports the results of the cross-polar measurements obtained during the first year of this measurement programme. In addition to the statistics of cross-polar discrimination (XPD) the frequency scaling of XPD is also of interest since suitable scaling relationships could be used to scale XPD data obtained at other frequencies. Therefore, the Olympus cross-polar data has been analysed to determine XPD scaling relationships. The results obtained are compared with values predicted using CCIR Report 564-3
