Abstract :
For information management in a distributed environment, we can use many technologies, like Web servers, retrieval engines, mirror sites, proxy caches, etc. In order to combine these technologies, there are many tradeoffs and problems which arise from inadequate technologies. To settle these problems, improvements in each technology and global control of the whole system are both expected. In this paper, I focus on improving proxy cache technology. I consider a method of controlling a distributed proxy cache network in order to improve both the utilization of the cache information and the access concentration by using Internet Cache Protocol (ICP) information and round-trip time (RTT) estimation. A remarkable benefit of the proposed method is that it can improve cache server performance without any new protocol or additional network access
