Abstract :
Particle counting is a very important activity particularly in biomedical metrology. Ultrasonic waves have some advantages compared to other standard techniques such as their harmlessness to biological tissues and their ability to control opacous media. In this work, we present a method for particle detection using high frequency ultrasound (about 200 MHz). The experimental results obtained with a protozoa culture are presented and compared to those given by simulation. This consists of the calculation of echograms arising from a multilayer structure which represents a biological cell. The theoretical model is based on the matrix transfer formalism and takes into account attenuation in the different layers
