Abstract :
With the conception of "The Digital Earth" been put forward and the developing of Internet, as an Internet-based geographic information service to provide users with, WebGIS is also developing rapidly. Moreover, the network transmission is the key issue of data showed in the WebGIS. To solve this problem, this paper provides a WebGIS vector graphic model based on VML. According to its own characteristics of vector graphics and VML, data transmission is very small, vector graphics of the client display quickly and efficiently. As we all know, with the accuracy of people\´s activities on the weather has become increasingly demanding, meteorological data has grown exponentially. How to provide the high-quality meteorological data of easy identification for the public and decision-making departments is becoming increasingly important. The structure of WebGIS vector graphic model has been applied to the XiaMen Bureau of Meteorology. It is to make the public more easily understand the weather, but also to meet day-to-day operations of the Bureau of Meteorology. The light WebGIS framework and its novel idea also can be applied to other domains.
