Abstract :
We present a few quantitative performance evaluation models for the network performance of a network management application regarding three different communication paradigms: RPC (remote procedure call), mobile agent and locker pattern. Based on this model, we then propose a PS (protocol switching) algorithm that determines efficient interaction patterns from many paradigms for developing a network management application. We show that it can reduce overall network execution time by determining the best interaction patterns to perform network management operations by this algorithm. We believe that the model proposed here should help us to decide appropriate paradigms and interaction patterns for developing network management applications
