  • Abstract
    A wideband directional channel simulation model is presented, from its theoretical description, passing through its assessment with measurements, until its implementation and total integration into a radio channel module. It simulates signal propagation in a multipath environment, providing delay and direction of arriving signals. It introduces variations of stationary conditions during the simulations. This module allows the simulation, in UMTS, of microcells and macrocells; FDD and TDD modes; uplink, downlink or bi-directional transmissions; single- or multilink transmissions (several mobile terminals for a single base station) with moving terminals. This module is to be integrated into a link level simulation platform, in order to assess the performance of multiple access interference mitigation techniques.
