Abstract
An experimental point-to-point coverage prediction model based on field measurements taken in the region of Athens in the 900 MHz band is discussed. The developed model, incorporating a new method for effective height estimation in 3-dimensions, addresses the case of mobile radio propagation over urban and suburban areas with non-uniform terrain morphology in which negative effective height values are also present. The effectiveness of the proposed model is proved by comparing actual transmission loss values, for the specific area, to prediction values obtained by this model as well as by a number of known models
