Abstract :
The primary goal for wireless sensor MAC protocol is energy conservation. S(sensor)-MAC based on sensor networks proposes schemes such as periodic sleep and overhearing avoidance for that goal. An analytic model of CAP is employed for our probability model of active period for minimizing energy consumption in a S(sensor)-MAC. We evaluate the time for one successful transmission so that nodes can go to sleep after one successful transmission for energy saving, since that per-node latency and fairness are less important in sensor networks. We validate the accuracy of the analytic model by comparing the analytic results with OPNET simulation results and result confirms that the model can save energy effectively
