Abstract :
In this paper, the system level performance of deploying GPRS coding schemes CS-1 to CS-4 is evaluated against that of deploying only the two lower data rate schemes, CS-1 and CS-2. In this manner, the substantial benefits of deploying all four coding schemes are demonstrated. The evaluation is performed using both link level performance statistics and a simulator that is specifically designed to evaluate the peer-to-peer performance of the RLC/MAC layer. Throughput and delay statistics are used as the main basis of comparing the results presented in this paper.
