  • Abstract
The design of VHF phase and frequency synthesizers using phase lock loops are suggested for communication units and systems. Experimental models of phase synthesizers have been developed with a low value of phase step at fixed frequencies and errors 0.02° (maximum). A low noise frequency synthesizer has been developed with a frequency switching time of 10 μs, providing a frequency spacing of 0.1 MHz over the range 0.4-2 GHz. Phase synthesizers can also be designed performing phase modulation according to a complex law by means of a sequencing program. The maximum frequency of the phase modulation is about 250 kHz
