Abstract :
We study the influence of optical nonlinearity of dielectric layers on the surface plasmon excitation in metal-dielectric multilayer structures, for both focusing and defocusing nonlinearities. We find that the positions and the shapes of the reflectance dips are substantially changed and a strong bistability behavior is observed.
