Abstract :
Wide-band/wide-scan phased arrays are required for multiple beam operation or multiple functions in a single aperture. Tapered slot antennas (TSA) are very suitable for this application due to their wide bandwidth and broad element pattern. For a single TSA, the wide-band design is often based on a simple equivalent circuit model of slot-to-stripline transition. For phased arrays, however, the design guidelines for single element TSA fail to get wideband results because they do not include the interactions between elements. In this contribution, using MoM analyses, the effects of several key parameters of TSA arrays on the active input impedance bandwidth are identified to help the design of wide-band arrays.
