Abstract :
In this paper, a new approach to class-D amplifiers is presented. It incorporates the use of a binary signal exhibiting a so-called separated baseband. This enables an exactly free-of-distortion signal transfer characteristic to be achieved which is shown to be in contrast to formerly known concepts. Implementation considerations are given and measurement results of a first all-digital real-time implementation of the novel modulating scheme with reduced bandwidth are presented
