Abstract
The application of variable structure control to a single-pulse cycloconverter induction servomotor is described. The resulting control dynamics and robustness of the servomotor system under such a control scheme are shown to be improved. The sliding mode control algorithm is used in the torque and current control loops and a constant rotor flux is assumed in the induction motor vector control model. The system performance is investigated in a computer simulation and the results obtained demonstrate the effectiveness of sliding mode control. Some practical results are presented which agree well with those obtained by simulation
