Abstract :
Designs presented in this paper form the nucleus of a universal ASIC chip set which can be used to produce a cycloconverter drive of any pulse number. This can be achieved by configuring the counter/comparator/pulse amplifier (CCPA) ASICs in parallel to fire the required number of thyristors. The three-phase reference waveform generator (TPRWG) ASIC produces the required three phase reference waveforms without modification
