Does a Successful e-Commerce project require technological skills only? Experience in teaching e-Business course

This article discusses the question raised by the title of this paper in the light of our experience in teaching CPIS380 “Introduction to e-Business” - an undergraduate course of the IS program of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia. There is a belief among students that being a good web programmer is sufficient to entrepreneur an e-Commerce project. CPIS380 students have background knowledge in both business and technology, therefore, this course tries to fill in the gap between these two dispersed areas and integrates them into a unified framework that will contribute to building a deeper understanding of the bigger picture of the business environment in the new era of Internet. The course stresses on highlighting the paradigm shift in doing business through applying the technology. Elevating many soft skills is also a goal of this course. The design of CPIS380 abides to ABET´s guidelines.
