Abstract
In this study, Barasch´s method is improved upon to calculate the natural frequencies of rotating disks in less time. The characteristics of the natural frequencies in rotating coordinates are studied and an estimation procedure that uses cantilever and conic curves is suggested to conveniently calculate the natural frequencies and mode shapes. The convergence speed of Barasch´s method is accelerated by estimating an initial value of the solution for the characteristic equation
