Abstract
A method of realizing the optimal operation of a photovoltaic DC-motor-coupled water pumping system is suggested. The optimization problem consists of maximizing the overall (photovoltaic, mechanical, and electrical) efficiency of the system for every operation point, where the field current and armature voltage of the motor are continuously controlled. The method applied for optimization was mathematical programming utilizing nonlinear equations presenting the physical model as equality constraints.<>
