Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel approach of designing functional blocks to implement Proportional, Integral and Derivative action in hybrid bit-stream environment. The developed functional blocks which do not convert the element output to bit-stream signal assure the minimization of the noise inside the controller by avoiding bit-stream converter, save more hardware resources and reduce the design complexity comparing to the conventional bit-stream elements. Proposed bit-stream controller reduces the number of interface channels between the controller and other parts of the system from multiple to single channel, thereby consumes significantly less hardware resources compared to traditional multi-bits processing. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed bit-stream PID controller is experimentally illustrated for controlling the position of a DC Motor.
