Abstract :
A controllability analysis based on plant oriented techniques (POT) is applied to the TE benchmark. These techniques have large potential in performing a preliminary screen among manipulated variables in large scale plants, thus reducing the number of control schemes to be analysed by scheme oriented techniques. Advantages and limitations of POT, as well as the role of heuristics, are pointed out in the paper
