Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to reproduce blood flow velocity waveform in the middle of left common carotid artery (CCA) using one-dimensional mathematical model of major arteries of human. Compare with measured flow velocity waveform, results of simulation can reproduce similar waveform. Furthermore, we separate the simulated flow rate of the middle of CCA and investigate the structure of parameters in CCA flow velocity. In consequence, the flow velocity parameter S2 mainly related with pulse wave refection from more distant parts than the thoracic aorta. It increased when the segments stiffened, because of the arrival time of the maximum flow rate of reflection flow become earlier. Our model can theoretically explain the mechanism of S2 cause and relationship between S2 and the stiffness of arteries.
