Abstract :
We investigated the relation between the supramolecular structure of sensing films in quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) odor sensors and the features of the sensor responses. We used the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique as the deposition method of the films on quartz resonators. To change the structure of an LB film and investigate the effect, we used mixed spreading solutions with lipid host materials and various additional substances such as protein, dye, vitamin A aldehyde (retinal), etc. In this experiment, it was indicated that the sensing film structure played an important role as well as the sensing film material for making high sensitivity QCM odor sensors
