Abstract :
Summary from only given. Multiphonon relaxation rates were directly measured as a function of temperature for Ho/sup 3+/, Er/sup 3+/, and Tm/sup 3+/ in YAG, LiYF/sub 4/, and LuAG and fit to a model that takes into account both the single phonon energy and intermanifold Stark level-to-Stark level transition rates.
