Abstract :
Summary form only given. Pulsed intra-cavity optical parametric oscillator difference frequency generation (OPO-DFG)using two periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) (LiNbO/sub 3/)crystals and cascaded mid-infrared generation was demonstrated using AgGaSe/sub 2/. The OPO-PPLN crystal operated in the usual manner by converting pump photons into signal and idler photons The DFG-PPLN crystal was designed to phase match the signal and idler waves to produce a difference frequency photon and an additional idler photon.
