  • Abstract
    Most of input images of characters are distorted by translating, scaling, rotating, tilting, or by any combination of the above transformations. In order to identify the characters by computers, a restoration transformation is needed. A novel image restoration method is proposed for characters under the above transformations. The restoration is based on the so-called characteristic points. Three characteristic points are required to construct the distorted characters. Some approaches to identify the characteristic points are developed
