  • Abstract
    This paper focuses on the design and development of a group awareness system to support distributed cooperative authoring on the Web, where coauthors share resources to reach a common goal: an elaborated structured document. Due to the fact that each shared entity can be produced by different collaborators, and some entities can be referred in different sections of the same document, inconsistency may result. In addition, collaborators may not be timely aware about activities of their colleagues, their communication interest, and their working position on the shared objects. We tackled this issue by developing an intelligent awareness knowledge based system which deduces the interrelated parts of the cooperative production as a kind of work proximity, and provides functionalities related to the state of the production.
