Abstract
This paper presents new algorithms for envelope recovery in orthocomplex amplitude modulation. The hypecomplex analytic signal follows a definition analogue to classical one, which allows the use of the quaternion Hilbert transform for envelope recovering. This representation is based on the Cayley-Dickson polar form, which presents a sign ambiguity for conversion. Previous methods for removing this ambiguity are based on analyzing the signal variation during one period of the carrier signals. We present in this paper instantaneous methods that use both the current sample or the current and the previous one being simpler than preceding procedures. This methods are well appropriate for envelope recovery in orthocomplex amplitude modulation when using transmitted or suppressed carrier. Some simulations which validate the proposed algorithms are also presented.
