Abstract
Effective interactions between a cold atomic ensemble and probe light can take the ldquoQND,rdquo ldquobeamsplitter, rdquo and ldquotwo-mode squeezingrdquo forms, useful for quantum cloning and memory. We describe experiments with dipole-trapped 87Rb using these interactions.
