Abstract :
Static load disturbance during the relay tuning experiment introduces errors in the estimates of the ultimate gain and ultimate period. This paper proposes a two step relay auto-tuning enabling one to suppress these errors instantly and to evaluate the static gain of the process and load disturbance. Such an approach is shown to be not very sensitive to noise and moderate nonlinearities on the process control input
