Abstract :
Co-Design and co-simulation of ESL models (which include models of software and hardware components) often require specific APIs or mechanisms for co-simulation so that multiple simulation engines can be put to work together on the simulation task. In this session, two papers that address two specific aspects of this requirement are presented. Generation of communication interfaces is a very important task as part of the design process for platform independent solutions. In this context, research for automatic solutions is a especially promising area. The first paper proposes a solution for this specific problem. The second paper addresses the problem of complex interface protocol encountered in co-simulation techniques when using the backplane method. It proposes a lightweight protocol that implements the rules of a Kahn Process Network.
