Summary form only given. The paper examines the authors experiences as a CAREER Awardee. He details how the Award influenced the following aspects of his professional work: integration of teaching and research; encouragement of professional efforts through IEEE by stressing the educational component; and increased the likelihood of collaborations (a received a 3-yr EPRI Grant during the Award).
