Abstract
The methodology and experimental results of the independent speed control of two three-phase induction motors (IMs) fed by a five-leg inverter (5LI) with space vector modulation (SVM) are presented in this paper. Using SVM, we can select the switching count freely. But if SVM is applied to 5LI, normal SVM techniques to output voltages for motor in 3-VSI cannot be employed for the 5LI with independent driving because of its circuit configuration. Therefore, new SVM technique is needed. This paper shows the SVM technique for 5LI and the experimental results in case of using SVM with the least switching count for common leg of all. Then, experimental results are verified for the independent speed control of two IMs fed by the 5LI with SVM in this paper.
