Abstract
An efficient hybrid mode method is presented for the accurate full-wave analysis of coupled microstrip lines using the spectral domain approach. The dispersion characteristics of both even and odd modes are calculated for evaluating the characteristic impedance of these modes. Design curves are presented for directional couplers using duroid substrate. However, they can be extended to other substrates (e.g. alumina, silica) in case of need. Computational results show good agreement with data available in the literature
