Abstract :
In this paper, a method using the balanced three-phase carrier frequency component signals is presented to estimate the initial rotor position of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). Taking advantage of the structural saliency in an IPMSM, the rotor spatial saliency position is expressed as a function of the envelope of the carrier frequency component currents in α-β frame. The maximum amplitude and the corresponding phase angle of the carrier frequency component current vector are tracked to identify the polarization of the permanent magnets. The proposed estimation algorithm has been investigated by computer simulations using the proposed nonlinear motor model. And then the experimental results further verify the effectiveness of the approach.
