Abstract
Importance of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) has been increasing day by day due to the expectation of the mobile user´s and need of data access at all times. Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) or IEEE 802.16 standard defines wireless broadband network topology which aims to provide high bandwidth internet accesses even in the rural areas to reduce the cost expensive of wired networks. The problem of assuring Quality of Service (QoS) in WiMAX is that, how to allocate available resources among the users to meet the QoS requirements such as throughput, bandwidth, delay and jitter. When considering multihop relay networks (IEEE 802.16j), the bandwidth allocation problem become more complex, since the bandwidth should be allocated not only to the Subscriber Stations (SSs), and also to the Relay Stations (RSs). In this paper we proposed a resource allocation scheme to support multicasting of scalable video in IEEE 802.16j relay networks for increasing network throughput and simultaneously improving the number of satisfied users in the network when the resource is limited. Here we have proposed Greedy Weighted Algorithm (GWA) which evaluates the weighted value and priority for every user to allocate efficient resources in IEEE 802.16 relay networks. The bandwidth allocation problem and issues for achieving high network performance (such as high network throughput or large number of satisfied users) are overcome by GWA.
