Abstract :
A compact reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna with very wide operational bandwidth is presented. The proposed design consists of a rectangular patch loaded with varactor diodes at the radiating edges and meandered with slits at the non-radiating edges. With capacitance of the varactor diodes being varied, the operational frequency of the antenna is tunable in the range of 1.79-2.71 GHz that covers DCS/PCS/UMTS/ISM wireless communication bands. Simulation results show that good performance can be achieved.
