Abstract :
The electrical transient analyzer program (ETAP), an interactive power system analysis and design tool, is discussed. This program uses technically correct models, employs a user-friendly interface, uses a common database, and traps user errors. The studies of load flow, short circuits, transient instabilities, motor acceleration, cable derating, and cable pulling of power systems using ETAP are described. The estimation of induction machine parameters and the design of ground grids using ETAP are also discussed.<>
