Abstract :
The key to acceptance of PCS in the OFS band (1850-1990 MHz) is compatibility with existing point to point microwave users, particularly utility companies employing FDM/FM transmissions for multichannel voice. The paper examines the Hata and related propagation models and gives results of a series of experiments to determine the accuracy of the models for time division multiplexed direct sequence spread spectrum signals in the OFS band in order to asses the potential for interference to OFS users. Propagation constants derived both from straight line and piecewise linear regression are used to compare results to Hata and free space models
