Abstract
In radar imaging, one of the important steps includes target ranging. The Vernier ranging method (VRM) integrated into a stepped frequency chirp waveform (SFCW) radar is able to provide high ranging accuracy up to the order of millimeters without the need for increased bandwidth but with an increased computational complexity. The choice of system parameter is also discussed. This method is suitable for measuring range in inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR). With a higher precision and accurate ranging system, an enhanced ISAR image can be obtained
