Abstract
In view of the emerging personal communications, the quasi-fixed distributed measurement-based frequency assignment (also known as autonomous frequency assignment) methodology is superior to the conventional centralized, predication-based fixed channel allocation (FCA). It also avoids the present hardware limitations on the fully dynamic channel allocation (DCA). Five autonomous frequency assignment (ACA) algorithms are studied to observe the effect of signal threshold on the algorithms. It is found that the introduction of a threshold cannot improve the performance and a simple aggressive algorithm without using a threshold performs the best
