Abstract :
In this paper the simulator of semiconductor multiquantum-well (MQW) lasers LaserCAD III considered. A lot of other characteristics of the program are taken into consideration: the simplicity of using, the self-consistency and the universality of used methods, the cost, the design, the hardware and the OS requirements, the possibility of interconnections with other broadly distributed programs and supplement of the program by new modules. CAD systems which allow to carry out virtual experiments in real time mode (for example packages Electronic Workbench, Ptolemy, MatLab Simulink etc.) develop more and more.
