  • Abstract
To attain the dominant noise sources and assess the noise performance for optimizing EV´s driving machine design, a electromagnetic noise assessment method is presented. The responses of dominant radial force waves are calculated separately by coupling electromagnetic and structural FEM, then the responses are superposed to assess the noise of the machines within its operating range. The noise characteristics of a 48s8p PM driving machine are calculated with this method. It is shown that the 0-order force appears to be the electromagnetic noise source in integer slot machines with a high number of pole pairs. This conclusion has also been verified by experiments.
