  • Abstract
This paper presents a novel space vector modulation strategy for a E-core five-phase flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine-based drive system, which can be easily implemented in a digital method. Firstly, the new topology and static electromagnetic performance of the five-phase FSPM machine are presented and analyzed from the view of control strategy. Then, the characteristics of the basic space vectors that are produced by a five-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) are studied in depth, and the results indicate that they can be classified into three categories by amplitudes. Afterwards, a space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) method using the large and medium space vectors with a closed-loop of both the fundamental and 3rd harmonic stator currents is proposed and implemented. Also, the other two SVPWM techniques are analyzed, and consequently, three models using three different SVPWM techniques are built and compared. In addition, the reason why not all the space vectors are employed is discussed. Finally, the simulation results are presented, verifying the advantages of the proposed strategy.
