Abstract
This paper deals with the fuzzy logic based proportional-integral (FPI) regulators for voltage and frequency control (VFC) of an isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) in a wind energy conversion system (WECS). A three-leg voltage source converter (VSC) with battery supported energy storage (BSES) is used as a VFC. The VFC algorithm uses two fuzzy PI regulators, to improve the dynamic performance of the WECS. A three-phase four-wire WECS is realized in support with a zig-zag transformer connected at load bus. An extensive study is made based on performance of the controller to emphasize the merits of using FPI regulators in control algorithm. The proposed WECS is modeled and simulated in the MATLAB using simulink and sim power system toolboxes.
