Abstract :
Secure routing is vital to the acceptance of ad hoc networks for several applications. This paper explores the efficacy of security aware routing protocols to support real-time multimedia data transmission over clustered mobile ad hoc networks. Two state-of-the-art secure routing protocols, SEAD and ARIADNE, are tested on a simulated environment and their performance is compared under various traffic conditions and network topologies. For this operational scenario SEAD has exhibited overall better performance, but still it fails to accommodate fully real-time traffic at data rates that can support audio/visual multimedia communications.
